KEY POINTS:
A witness says she was astounded to see one of five teenage girls involved in a car accident try to attack the dazed driver.
The car carrying the girls landed upside down on a front lawn after smashing through two fences in Chelwood Street, Palmerston North, on Tuesday night, the Manawatu Standard reports.
The girls received minor cuts and scratches.
"One of the girls was trying to get at the driver and whack her because it was her aunty's car, but the other girls were holding her back," neighbour Pati Faaea told the paper.
Palmerston North police area commander, Inspector Pat Handcock, said investigations were continuing.
