An 8-year-old Tauranga girl who received serious head injuries after being kicked by a horse underwent surgery at Starship Hospital yesterday.
The girl was airlifted from Tauranga Hospital to Starship by the Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter on Saturday.
Helicopter pilot Liam Brettkelly flew the girl and her mother to Starship. Mr Brettkelly said he wasn't sure what time the accident occurred, but understood two children are Tauranga locals who were on a farm when the horse injured the girl.
A Starship Hospital spokesman said on Sunday the girl was in a stable condition.
