Gemma Pouls has her fingers crossed for a finger-knitting record.
On Tuesday night the eleven-year-old from Ohaupo, 17km south of Hamilton, celebrated her birthday by measuring the finger-knitting she had been working on since August last year.
The official length was 2779 metres and 49cm. Gemma now has to wait to hear from the Guinness Book of World Records to see if she has set the record for the longest piece of finger-knitting.
