A 12-year-old Hastings girl has been admitted to Auckland's Starship Hospital with head injuries after falling from a moving ice-cream truck.
Constable Tim Rowe said the truck was driving along Bledisloe St in Hastings at about 4.40pm yesterday when the incident happened.
"The girl suffered moderate head injuries as a result of falling onto the roadway, and after being initially treated at the scene by St Johns ambulance staff she was taken to Hawke's Bay Hospital," Mr Rowe said.
She was taken to Auckland overnight.
Mr Rowe said police were seeking witnesses to the incident and also wanted to speak to the driver of the ice-cream truck.
