KEY POINTS:
A four-year-old girl was killed after the BMW her father was driving crashed into a power pole in South Auckland yesterday.
The accident, which is being investigated by the Serious Crash Unit, happened about 7am along Puhinui Rd in Papatoetoe.
Constable Steve Carey said the car flipped on to its roof after hitting the pole.
The girl was taken to hospital in a critical condition and died soon after her life support was turned off yesterday afternoon.
Mr Carey appealed for any witnesses to contact the Serious Crash Unit on (09) 261 1300.
