One of the girls who allegedly attacked a fellow student at Morrinsville College last week is to be pulled out of school voluntarily by her mother.
Four girls are said to have cornered the 13-year-old victim in the girls' toilets, beaten her and slammed her head against a door.
The attack put her in the hospital for several days and she now needs 24-hour care and has a brain injury.
The girls have been allowed back to Morrinsville College, upsetting parents of other students who feel their children are unsafe.
Principal John Inger told the Waikato Times that the mother of the main attacker had contacted him to express her sadness at the fact the school's good name was in jeopardy because of her daughter.
"She was really concerned about the burden that I'm having to bear in terms of the media... She is most certainly going to withdraw her girl from the school and send her off to stay with other family and go to another school."
The school has been inundated with phone calls and letters from people upset about how it handled the situation and for allowing the attackers to return to school so soon.
This was the second time the victim had been attacked by the same girls.
There were processes the school had to follow, Principal John Inger said.
"There's a group of people who are concerned and I understand that. But they really don't understand the facts or processes that have to be put in place when something like this happens."
Police are investigating the incident.
