A 14-year-old girl picked up by Whangarei police in the early hours of Sunday morning had two wine bladders, and allegedly assaulted police.
Acting Sergeant Paul Nicholas, of Whangarei police, said the girl was stopped about 12.20am on Sunday carrying two bladders of wine.
Mr Nicholas said as the girl was being arrested for breaching the city's liquor ban, she allegedly kicked and spat at the arresting officers.
The girl has been referred to the police Youth Aid service.
