Controversial hip-hop group Odd Future, which has been stopped from playing the Big Day Out for its violent and homophobic lyrics, could still play a gig in New Zealand.
Auckland councillor Sandra Coney led opposition to their inclusion. "The one in particular that disturbed me most was a YouTube clip that showed one of them putting a noose around his neck and kicking a stool out from underneath himself and his legs twitching, simulating suicide."
Big Day Out promoters pulled the group because of the growing concern, but Ken West said discussions were under way with Odd Future and they would likely announce their own solo show for Auckland in coming weeks.
