Operation Cameron will be the war cry from Giants leading into their Inter City series men's softball match with Poneke-Kilbirnie at Fraser Park tomorrow.
Black Sox pitcher Thomas Cameron is the spearhead of the powerful P-K combination and how the Giants batters cope against his speed of delivery and clever change of pace will go a long way towards deciding their fate here.
"He (Cameron) has got all the tricks up his sleeve," his Giants counterpart, Ritchie Clarke, said. "He's one of the best in the business, maybe even the best."
Boosting confidence in the Giants camp is the knowledge Cameron was a guest pitcher for Johnsonville at the Lion Red Classic and they registered a couple of runs against him on that occasion. "At the end of the day, every pitcher can be hit and that's the attitude we will taking into this game," Clarke said. "We can't afford to be negative. That wouldn't help at all."
The fact Justin Karaitiana has recovered from injury and will be back in action tomorrow is another boost for Giants as he is a power hitter who will relish the prospect of confronting a pitcher of Cameron's calibre. And the news Terry Waitere will be back will be welcomed as he also can put bat to ball and there are few quicker around the bases.
