The Cross Country Rentals Giants softball team head to Kapiti this weekend to compete in the annual Kapiti Classic.
The pre-season event offers Giants another opportunity to get in valuable game time for the entire squad as well as to try out different combinations. The team will also be keen to reverse last weekend's results and get some wins under their belt. Giants will play three games tomorrow, against Poneke, Wainuiomata and Dodgers, before taking to the diamond against Miramar and Porirua on Sunday.
"We won't be travelling with a full squad," pitcher Richard Clarke said. "We'll be without Corie Karaitiana and also Chunky, but it gives the younger fellas a chance to step up. All the teams treat the Classic as a time to experiment, so we can learn a few valuable lessons by putting in good performances."
Having made the finals in the past two years, Giants will be hoping to repeat the effort again this weekend.
