Giants are aiming to win the Kuripuni Tavern President's grade men's softball tournament at South Park, Masterton, this weekend for the second successive year.
But while club president Allan Clarke expects his full-strength squad to be hard to beat, he is anticipating stern opposition from the six sides travelling over the Rimutakas from Wellington and Hutt Valley, and also the Giants' premier three men's team, which has been included to ensure two pools of four.
"You have to win your pool to make the final and with so many even teams that's not going to be easy," Clarke said. "We'd have to fancy our chances but it only takes one bad game and it could be all over."
Matches will get under way at 9.30am tomorrow and Sunday.
