Masterton-based Giants could finish their season on a high note by winning the Inter-City premier two division men's softball title at Fraser Park, Lower Hutt tomorrow.
They will square off against Hutt Valley Dodgers in the final with coach Russell Thompson giving them a 50-50 chance of taking the honours.
"It's going to be close???very close," Thompson said. "It's one of those games where it would be hard to pick a winner."
In the five encounters they have played so far this season it is Giants who have had the better record. They have registered three wins to Dodgers's two.
But invariably there has only been a run or two between them so Thompson says past results have played very little part in the lead-up to tomorrow's game.
"It's all going to be about who best handles the pressure on the day," he said.
Giants will have taken confidence from their comprehensive 7-0 semi-final win over Hutt Valley Marist last weekend.
With talented young pitcher Blair Thompson leading the way they shut out the opposition batters and also performed well with the bat, especially Terry Waitere who slammed his second automatic home run of the season.
