Giants face Red Sox Bishops

The Bishop family are guaranteed to be prominent for Porirua City United in their Inter City series men's softball match with Giants at South Park, Masterton, on Saturday.
Coach of the visiting side is Les Bishop, while no fewer than five of his sons - Dave, Sam, Te Kahui, Te Wera and Tony - could be in the starting line-up.
Te Wera Bishop's performance will claim special interest after news broke this week he has signed a contract with the Boston Red Sox baseball team.
The 17-year-old is one of two catchers in the Junior Black Sox squad - along with Giants' Campbell Gaunt - and was seen as a strong contender for a place in the Black Sox 2013 world championship squad.
Bishop had considered leaving his US stint until after then but any doubts were countered by the realisation it was wise to make the move while he was still young.
Black Sox coach Eddie Kohlhase has given Bishop his blessing, saying it was a special opportunity to be offered the chance to play with one of the greatest sporting organisations in the world.
Bishop can expect no favours from Giants in Saturday's match, however, as the locals desperately need a win to stay in contention for the semifinals and their pitcher Ritchie Clarke says they are focused only on taking maximum points on this occasion.
