Giants are aiming for a semi-final spot at least in the Doreen Dalton Memorial men's softball tournament to be played at Fraser Park, Avalon over Labour weekend.
To make the semis Giants will need to finish in the top two of their pool which also includes Porirua, Johnsonville and Hutt Valley Marist.
Of that trio Porirua promise to provide the most formidable opposition, if only because they have three Black Sox in their line-up.
Johnsonville are of similar strength to Giants and while Giants beat Hutt Valley Marist in an Inter-City series a couple of weeks back there was only one run in it at the end.
"It's a tough pool but making the top two is realistic, if we play well we will do it," Giants coach Tony Nixon said.
"Consistency is important, we can't afford a bad game."
THE DRAW FOR GIANTS IN POOL PLAY ON SATURDAY IS: v Porirua at 11am, v Johnsonville at 3pm, v Hutt Valley Marist at 5pm.
Semi-final matches get under way at 11am on Sunday morning.
