A huge corrugated iron cockerel auctioned before tomorrow's Rugby World Cup final has raised $4800 for wheelchair rugby.
A last-minute Trade Me bidding war more than doubled the price of the 3m-high rooster in the last half-hour of the auction, timed to come before the All Blacks vs France match.
Cockerels are an unofficial mascot of France, and fans often release roosters on to the field at rugby matches.
