KEY POINTS:
I wonder if you could find out why there is no right turn arrow for traffic driving west from Roscommon Rd up Browns Rd in Manurewa and wanting to turn right into Russell Rd. They are faced with traffic coming towards them in single file over the railway bridge then dividing into three lanes, one of which is a left
turn into one of two streets. Penny Jorgensen, Auckland.
Good news. Manukau City Council is looking at changes to this intersection in the next couple of months. The modifications will provide for right turns into both McVilly Rd and Russell Rd.
Are there any plans to provide for pedestrians coming from Orakei who would like to get to Orakei train station? Although there is a crossing on Kepa Rd near Coates Ave, westward travelling pedestrians have no safe way of crossing the busy Orakei Rd to get to this crossing. And northward travelling pedestrians have no safe way of crossing Kepa Rd at all. Ali Jackson, Orakei.
There are no short-term plans to provide crossings in Orakei Rd to service the railway station. Concept plans have been prepared for the medium to long term for improvements to Orakei Rd that will include provisions for pedestrians. However, this is all part of a concept plan for the whole Orakei peninsula, and this still has to be consulted on and approved.
