Fire services were called to a fire at a geothermal power plant in the Bay of Islands last night.
Top Energy chief executive Russell Shaw said the fire was caused by a motor failure at the Ngawha station and a crew fire crew from Kaikohe extinguished the blaze in about 10 minutes.
"There was some very minor damage to one of our penthane pumps," he said.
"It was a very minor event but the Fire Service was called as a precaution."
Mr Shaw said the pump would be back in operation later today.
