Life Sciences Network, an umbrella group of industry and scientists who support genetic engineering, will not present any new evidence to the Royal Commission on Genetic Modification. The network's executive director, Francis Wevers, said only rebuttal evidence would be presented when the commission reconvened for a special sitting on Friday week. The network says it wants to rebut claims by key Greens Party witness, Dr Elaine Ingham of Oregon State University, that genetic engineering had the ability to devastate plant life.
