An apt location for the scene of another protest to be staged against the so-called GCSB surveillance bill today.
It follows a string of protests in cities around the country yesterday, all opposed to the legislation that would allow the GCSB to spy on New Zealanders on behalf of the Security Intelligence Service, police and Defence Force.
Today's picket is being held at the Waihopai Spy Base, near Blenheim, the same place a group managed to break in and damage a satellite dome in 2008.
One of those behind the protest, Green MP Steffan Browning, says they want their voice heard loud and clear.
"Our main point is to be there to basically just show that we know where you are, we know what this facility is about, and just to hold it accountable in some respects."
