It will be a case of jockeying for position when the last of the preliminary round games are played in the Wairarapa Tennis Association's Gawith Shield competition tomorrow.
Results will dictate who plays who in the semifinals the following weekend, with the format being the No1 seeded team will play the fourth seeded and the second seeds will play the third seeds.
The points list sees Pirinoa up top with 42, followed by Masterton 37, Martinborough 35, Gladstone 31 and Opaki 21.
Martinborough have the bye tomorrow so will not improve their position, while Opaki would need a miracle of sorts to have any chance of securing a semifinal spot. A clean sweep of their away match at Pirinoa could do it for them but the chances of that happening are slim.
The other clash tomorrow is between Masterton and Gladstone, at Gladstone, and with Gladstone battling a mix of unavailabilities and injuries, an improving Masterton side looks the likely victor.
The Wairarapa association will stage its Trevs Sports closed junior tournament at the Masterton Tennis Centre on March 15 and the proceeds are to be donated to the Christchurch earthquake appeal. Considering there are 20 junior interclub sides operating this season, everything is in order for a record number of entries to be received.
