Celebrity chef Simon Gault has had to pull out of filming for the next series of Masterchef after his father fell ill.
Bryan Gault has been in hospital. Simon Gault was scheduled to be with the production this week but had to be by his father's side.
Simon Gault is the executive chef of Euro restaurant, and is also co-owner of Pasha, Pravda, Shed 5 and The Jervois Steakhouse.
In 2010 he told the NZ Woman's Weekly his parents had been integral to his success as a chef.
"Mum knows more about running restaurants than most professional restaurateurs. And Dad still works for me - he runs the office of my import company, Sous Chef. My parents helped me start that venture too - it's always been a family affair."
