A commercial fishing vessel is at the centre of a gas leak in Tauranga Harbour this morning.
Fire Service northern shift manager Megan Ruru said the boat, which was tied up at a wharf alongside seafood company Sanford, was leaking gas from its refrigeration unit.
The area around the vessel had been cordoned off as firefighters and a specialist hazardous unit looked to stem the leak.
Ruru said the leak had been isolated and work was underway to vent the system.
Firefighters were liaising with the ship's operator to solve the problem.
