Gas leak could close motorway

A major Auckland motorway could be closed as emergency services work to shut off a gas leak.

Police said the gas main running along Stoddard Road in Mount Roskill was ruptured at about 2:15pm

The end of the South Western Motorway between Sandringham Road and Dominion Road could be shut as repairs were carried out, police said.

Fire Service and police staff were at the scene evaluating the situation.
