Gas leak causes disruption

Dozens of store owners and customers were forced to stay indoors yesterday afternoon when workers cut through a gas main in New Lynn.

Emergency service workers cordoned off the block containing the New Lynn Police Station in Great North Rd. Motorists were kept away and people already in the area were told to stay inside until the leak was repaired.

No one was reported to have fallen ill from the gas.
