Staff at a science facility in Lower Hutt were evacuated this morning following a gas leak.
Fire Service central communications shift manager Jan Wills said crews were called to GNS Science in Gracefield about 6.45am, following a report of a leak from a five cubic metre cylinder of hydrogen gas.
Nine trucks were called to the scene and crews were making their way into the affected area, Ms Will said.
She did not know how many people were in the building at the time but said there were no reports of anyone being affected by the gas.
