Two companies charged over a gas explosion which killed a woman and injured two others in Auckland have pleaded not guilty.
Watercare maintenance planner and mother of two Philomen Gulland, 48, was killed in the explosion in Onehunga on June 4 last year.
Three other workers were seriously injured, including engineer Ian Winson, who lost part of both his legs.
In November the Department of Labour charged Watercare and contractor Canadian Pacific Ltd for failing to ensure the safety of their employees.
Watercare, which faces three charges under the Health and Safety in Employment Act, and Canadian Pacific Ltd, which faces two, pleaded not guilty in Auckland District Court today.
