The gap between Labour and National has narrowed to seven points, according to the latest political poll.
The NBR-Phillips Fox poll had Labour down four points to 41 per cent support while National was up two points to 34 per cent support.
In the business weekly's March poll, there was a 13-point gap between the two parties .
New Zealand First was up two points to 9 per cent support in today's poll.
The Greens were on 7 per cent support, United Future was on 3 per cent, ACT was on 2.7 per cent and the Maori Party had 1.8 per cent support.
Asked if the country was on the right track, 53 per cent said yes while 37 per cent thought it was on the wrong track.
The NBR said this was the third decrease in a row in support for the direction the country was moving. In January, 62 per cent had thought the country was heading in the right direction.
The poll surveyed 750 voting-age New Zealanders. It had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.6 per cent.
