Gang rape investigation in Wellington

Police need help from the public as they investigate a horrific gang rape in Wellington.

They say a 15-year-old girl was approached by five men outside McDonald's in the suburb of Newtown on Thursday afternoon.

They followed her to a nearby house where they attacked her.

She was sexually violated before she managed to escape and run away.

Four of the men had distinctive tattoos.

They are all Polynesian men, aged between 25 and 35, and of solid build.

Police say the girl is suffering severe trauma.
