The president of the Dunedin Mongrel Mob, currently in custody at Otago prison, was stabbed on Saturday in what was believed to be an attack by members of a rival gang.
Police told the Otago Daily Times the man, whose name was not released, had been stabbed in the chest with a "shank" made from a knife or fork, but escaped with only minor injuries.
Police said two Black Power members would face charges.
