KEY POINTS:
The gang that savagely beat a young man in Wellington this month and five others on the same night has assaulted three more people.
Oliver Mace was bashed by young thugs 10 days ago and was admitted to hospital with severe facial injuries.
Police believed the same group was behind a series of assaults, aggravated robbery and intimidation that put Mr Mace in hospital.
One man was stripped of his clothes and shoes, leaving him in only his underwear, T-shirt and socks.
The group was also believed to have attacked 10 people in the past seven days, police said.
Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Borrell, of Wellington CIB, told the newspaper it was street thuggery.
"These guys think they're a law unto themselves."
The youth gang, made up of four to seven Maori and Polynesians aged between 16 and 24, attacked six people in Newtown overnight on October 20.
Mr Mace was beaten as he walked home along Hall St. He suffered a fractured skull and broken facial bones.
Police said the same group prowled the central city, robbing and assaulting three other people, early last Friday morning, and again that night.
They stole wallets, cellphones, cash and clothes and also assaulted and intimidated people.
Police said that in one incident, a woman was indecently assaulted by one of the group while her male companion was assaulted by another. No money was taken.
