A Gisborne Mongrel Mob member has been arrested in relation to a stabbing incident involving two women in their 20s early on January 1.
The 18-year-old was to appear in Gisborne District Court this morning facing charges of aggravated robbery, wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and assault with a weapon.
Two women aged 27 and 24 were attacked by a group of young Maori men armed with knives, bottles and a fence post.
They shouted gang slogans at the two unarmed women and taunted them as they walked home along Tyndall Rd, in the suburb of Kaiti, at around 3am after New Year's Eve celebrations.
The 27-year-old woman received multiple stab wounds.
