A new road in Paraparaumu is likely to be called Gandalf Crescent after The Lord of The Rings character, played by Sir Ian McKellen.
Kapiti Coast District Council's southern wards committee has endorsed the name for the road at a new subdivision in the town.
Murray Ballinger, managing director of developer Te Roto Properties, said Rings director Peter Jackson was educated at Kapiti College and some of the filming took place on the Kapiti Coast.
* Return Of The King opens in New Zealand on Dec. 18.
