New archival material continues to come under the umbrella of Wairarapa Archive with 33 new acquisitions in the three months to the end of June.
These included postcards from the Gallipoli Campaign in World War I, records of the North Wairarapa Pony Club and Rongokokako Tennis Club, information on a well-known abandoned house at Ahiaruhe, interviews with men and women who served in World War II, Wairarapa Post and Telegraph Department records and Morice family papers from the 1940s.
The Wairarapa Archival Society launched a new book during the quarter, being Barrie Allom's book on his ancestor Albert Allom, an early settler in South Wairarapa.
The launch was held at Aratoi and district archivist Gareth Winter wrote a newspaper article to mark the launch.
In a quarterly report to Masterton District Council Mr Winter said other quarterly activities had included speaking to a gathering at Kopuaranga Hall and publishing a story on the closure of a Masterton business.
