A fuse board meltdown left a South Wairarapa dairy farmer without power to milk his herd of cows early Saturday morning.
Two volunteer fire crews from Featherston, the town fire command vehicle, and the Carterton water tanker were scrambled to the small blaze that broke out in the fuse board of a Kahutara home on Hikunui Rd just after 7am on Saturday.
The fire had burnt out by the time emergency services arrived at the scene and the water tanker was turned back, while the occupier of the property was left to farm out his cows to neighbours for milking.
