KEY POINTS:
A Huntly man has been charged with rape and sexual violation after allegedly attacking women he had met through an online dating site.
Detective Simon Everson of the Waihi CIB said the charges related to the 40-year-old man, known by the cyber id of 'Houndman', meeting two women on an online New Zealand dating website.
"On both occasions the women have met the man and returned to his rural home outside of Huntly where the alleged offences have been committed," he said.
The offences were said to have taken place on November 9 and 23 of last year.
Mr Everson said the man had been a member of the dating site for over two years and police feared there could be further alleged victims.
"We would be interested in hearing from anyone who may have had contact with a person using this identity," he said.
Police warned users of online dating websites to meet for the first time in a public place and advise someone of their whereabouts.
