KEY POINTS:
The lawyer representing a woman charged over the death of an 18-month-old baby has told a court he will apply for bail for his client at her next appearance.
The 30-year-old Whangarei woman, who has interim name suppression, is charged with manslaughter and abandoning a child on or about March 7.
The baby was found dead in bush off Te Rongo Rd, Parua Bay.
A post-mortem indicated the child had drowned.
In Whangarei District Court today her lawyer, Dave Sayes, sought a further remand for a pre-depositions hearing.
He told two Justices of the Peace that he would apply for bail then.
The woman was remanded in custody until May 14.
