A former Iraqi soldier charged with murdering his wife in Wellington earlier this year has been further detained in a secure psychiatric hospital until February.
Najeeb Dawood, 51, made a brief appearance in Wellington District Court today, with an interpreter explaining proceedings to him.
His lawyer Mike Antunovic told Judge Peter Hobbs that a further report into Dawood's mental health ordered in October had just arrived.
Mr Antunovic said he had not seen it yet and was also seeking a report from a private psychiatrist.
Dawood is charged with the murder of Eman Jani Hurmiz on September 2. The 42-year-old refugee was found dead with multiple stab wounds in the driveway of her Strathmore home.
