Two men have come forward believing they could be the person known as Tommy police are seeking in the Jane Furlong murder case.
Aged just 17 and working as a prostitute, Furlong disappeared from Auckland's Karangahape Rd in 1993.
The murder case was launched when her body was finally found at Sunset Beach near Port Waikato three months ago.
Detective Inspector Mark Benefield said police were trying to find "Tommy" who was named in Jane's diary around the time that she disappeared.
"We believe or we have been told Tommy was a person that was looking to possibly hire Jane for a whole night. Two men have come forward believing they could be the man." Other people had nominated candidates.
