Funeral sold for $2510

An online auction of a funeral certificate sold for $2510 yesterday after the item attracted 20,000 hits.

The seller, an Aucklander trading as Aliveandkicking, attracted bids on Trade Me for the $5000 certificate, which he won in a restaurant promotion.

Aliveandkicking, better known as 28-year-old Aucklander Mark Maughan, said the price had remained at $2500 for some days until three minutes before the auction closed when another bidder bumped the price up by $10.
