The funeral of an elderly South Auckland woman who died after being attacked in her home last week has been held today.
Yin Ping Yang, 80, was farewelled by family and friends this morning after she died at the weekend from injuries sustained in a home invasion in Saralee Drive, Manurewa.
This afternoon family members will join police at a media conference in Auckland to launch a fresh appeal for information to help find the killer.
In a statement released yesterday, the family said that Mrs Yang's last wish was to ensure the killer be brought to justice.
Mrs Yang lost her husband 20 years ago in China and moved to New Zealand 18 years ago to be with her children.
Before she died, Mrs Yang managed to tell police her attacker was a Maori or Polynesian man, aged 30 to 40, dressed in a white T-shirt and black shorts.
