A person on the way to their own funeral had an unscheduled stop in Auckland today when their hearse was involved in a traffic accident.
The hearse and a van collided on the Mt Wellington highway. Members of the funeral procession were believed to have attacked the driver of the van.
No one was injured but the hearse was unable to continue. The coffin was transferred to another hearse as police and firefighters held up a tarpaulin to shield it from onlookers.
Police were investigating, but could not say if anyone would be charged.
