Fundraisers to support Jacob

Kuranui College students on an earlier 10k mufti fun run or walk to raise funds for classmate Jacob Skinner, who has a tumour.

The community is continuing to rally together for Jacob Skinner with two fundraisers today and Monday.

Jacob, a 15-year-old Kuranui College and ex-Greytown School student, is currently undergoing chemotherapy in Christchurch after being diagnosed Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Head down to the Greytown School Hall from 9.00-10.30am to grab some bargain boots, shin pads and goalie gloves at a fundraiser organised by Greytown Junior FC.

Donate your old gear and pick up something new, boots start from just $5 and everything else is gold coin.

On Monday, there is "Kina for Skinner" student-led fundraiser.

At 1.20pm at Kuranui College, students will be looking for sponsors to have their head shaved in support of Jacob.

Jacob's friend Cole Freeman said they were doing it to show their mate that he is not alone and they think of him daily.

"We're doing this to show Jacob that he is not alone in this battle.

"We are 100 per cent behind him every step of the way, that's what mates do."

The students have raised over $4000 so far through a school fun run, car washes and donations from college sports teams. All proceeds will go to Jacob and his family.
