Radio host Jo Cotton had a word with Benny, a chihuahua-cavalier cross, at the SPCA's celebrity high tea fundraiser at the Stamford Plaza yesterday.
Executive director Bob Kerridge said the $6000 raised would help buy a $20,000 digital x-ray machine for the SPCA's animal hospital in Mangere.
The new machine would replace outdated technology which, because it was so slow, meant many of the larger animals had to be sedated before they were x-rayed.
"It's a fantastic result for us - it's not like we have to wear the old lead coats to use what we have but it's pretty bad."
