Masterton SPCA manager Lloyd Warren delighted Lansdowne Park Retirement Village residents with a visit and talk yesterday, although his three-legged dog King was possibly the biggest attention-grabber.
Mr Warren was there to acknowledge the village's efforts for the SPCA's Cupcake Day fundraiser, and to talk to the residents about the work he does.
He arrived with a plate of Breadcraft cupcakes, especially made for Cupcake Day, and King swiftly ingratiated himself among the assembled residents.
Mr Warren received a cheque for the SPCA of $250, the funds being raised by the residents, and a set of knitted blankets, suitable for cats, from resident Rosamond Hill.
He said they were "perfect" for cats coming back from the vet after de-sexing. "You've got to keep them warm, keep them calm."
