The Labour Department is investigating Talleys Foods after nine staff at its Blenheim factory were taken to hospital with carbon monoxide poisoning yesterday.
Department spokeswoman Dionne Barton said the women were working in an enclosed area where an LPG-powered forklift was operating.
They were overcome by the fumes and taken to Wairau Hospital.
Symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning include headaches and dizziness. High levels of carbon monoxide can be fatal.
