A man who led police on a 45-kilometre pursuit round the Nelson region at the weekend was forced to give himself up to take a toilet stop.
The 31-year-old Reefton man ignored a police request to stop on Rocks Rd, Nelson, at 3.40am on Saturday, Sergeant Blair Hall told The
Nelson Mail.
Three police vehicles pursued the car to Kohatu, southwest of Nelson where the man stopped.
"The man stopped because his bladder was full and he could not carry on," Mr Hall said.
He was charged with dangerous driving and failing to stop for police, with further drink-driving charges likely to be laid.
