Fugitive arrested

Armed police surrounded a Whakatane motel yesterday to catch a fugitive wanted over alleged methamphetamine and firearm offences.

An arrest warrant was issued for Glen Smyth after police searched a Clevedon house on March 30 and found a P lab and a loaded pistol.

He fled the scene, and police believed he had been staying in hotels and motels in the upper North Island for the past three weeks.
