Nissan New Zealand is following up a United States vehicle safety inquiry into the fuel tanks of recently released Nissan Murano four-wheel-drives.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in the US said the inquiry involved about 124,000 Muranos from the 2004-05 model years.
It said it had received four complaints of the fuel tanks being punctured by road debris during normal driving conditions. The condition led to fuel leakage and the need for a replacement tank.
Nissan NZ is just launching the vehicle here.
