A highway in the upper South Island has been closed following a fuel spill.
Fuel was spilling from a tanker on the Coastal Highway, State Highway 60, near Trafalgar Rd, said police communications manager Barbara Dunn.
The spill wasn't the result of a crash.
The highway had been closed and diversions were in place via the Moutere Highway while the spill was dealt with, said Ms Dunn.
