KEY POINTS:
Petrol prices at many service stations in Auckland leaped 6c a litre yesterday to $1.58c for 91-octane petrol, in line with elsewhere in New Zealand, where motorists faced a 2c increase on a higher base rate.
Diesel also jumped in price, by 5c in Auckland and 3c elsewhere, to $1.03c a litre. That came on top of an 11 per cent increase in Government road-user charges at the weekend for vehicles with a laden weight of six tonnes or more. The Government's tax on petrol also rose then by 0.69c a litre.
